Dan Miller's UFC career is really taking off. In his first UFC appearance he submitted Rob Kimmons in the first round. Then he beat Matt Horwich at UFC 90 by unanimous decision. Then just a few weeks ago, Miller subbed Jake Rosholt in the first round. Now people are taking notice of the rising star, who along with his brother Jim, is undefeated in the Octagon.
Miller's opponent, Yushin Okami, is a very well known fighter out of Japan. Okami is the last man to beat UFC middleweight champ Anderson Silva, although the fight was stopped on a foul. Silva illegally kicked Okami, knocking him out.
Okami is the one guy that people believe is a true threat to the title. But I think that he's going to have big problems against Dan Miller. Miller can do it all: he can bang, he grapple and he can submit people. Okami will want the fight on the ground, but I think Miller's wrestling and submission defense will allow him to keep the fight standing, where he'll be able to get the better of Okami.
Still, it's a big step up for the New Jersey fighter. And a great fight for UFC fans.
