Jon Fitch Vs Thiago Alves copy CANCELLED copy

The highly appealing rematch at UFC 107 between the top two contenders to GSP's throne has been cancelled on account of Thiago Alves' injured knee.

MMAFanhouse was the first to publish this report.  Jon Fitch was originally slated to face Ricardo Almeida in the veteran's first exposure to the 170 division, but also suffering an injury to his knee, Almeida was forced to withdraw.  Thiago Alves was quickly announced as the replacement, as Thiago has been chomping at the bit for another crack at Fitch after falling by TKO in their first encounter.

Thiago's hunger and desire to redeem himself outweighed the hindrance of his injury, and he was still willing to accept the challenge despite his inability to train properly, but he and his team have finally decided to forgo such an important opponent until Thiago is 100%.

Fitch is still scheduled to appear on Memphis' UFC 107 card on December 12th, but no replacement has been named.
