On Friday, September 27th, Take On Productions returned to Resorts World Casino in New York City for Take-On Muay Thai XXIII. The eleven bout card promised and delivered hard hitting action, including a Title Fight and three with full Muay Thai rules, one of which was a battle of two undefeateds, and did not disappoint fans as top level Muay Thai was once again on display at Resorts World. For those of you who haven’t been there yet, it is a well outfitted venue where fans can cheer on their favorite fighters, watching the action live and on six big screens that offer great ringside camera angles, close-ups, and all the instant replays of the most exciting, hard hitting moments. There are also strategically located full service bars and a food concession.

The night was studded with impressive and competitive bouts, including two knockouts (one by way of a knee strike!) and seven unanimous decisions, including the night’s co-main and main events.

The most exciting performances came from Eddie Martinez (Sitan Gym, CT) and Justin Greskiewicz (Cool Hearts Muay Thai) in the Main Event, which was a re-match and a title fight for the vacant New York State WKA Welterweight (147#) Full Rules Title, and Joel Estevez (Sitan Gym, NY) and Jon Curtis (Weapons 9) in the Co-Main Event (132#). Martinez and Estevez each won their respective bouts by unanimous decision. While both bouts were action packed back and forth battles, the Co-Main was one of three that were full Muay Thai rules and included elbows and knees, which were masterfully displayed by Estevez. In the Main Event, Martinez was the busier of the two fighters, landing many powerful kicks and punches.
