The influx of outrageously talented Brazilian Jiu Jitsu grapplers entering MMA continues as the exploding Shine Fight Promotions has secured highly decorated phenom Braulio Estima for his plunge into full-contact fighting.

Before listing some of Estima's accomplishments in BJJ, perhaps the only piece of information you need to know is that he submitted Marcelo Garcia, who is arguably the best grappler to walk the face of the earth.  You may want to grab a snack and beverage and curl up in front of the fire before perusing Estima's outstanding credentials, because they read like a novel:

  • ADCC 2009 88 kg and Absolute Champion
  • Absolute World Cup Champion - 2006
  • Absolute World Champion - 2002
  • World Champion - 2004, 2006, 2009
  • Grand Slam Capital Challenge Jordan - 2008 heavy weight and Absolute Champion
  • Pan American Champion - 1999, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2006
  • Absolute Pan American Champion - 2003
  • Pan American No Gi Champion - 2008
  • Absolute Pan American No Gi Champion - 2008
  • European Champion - 2007, 2009
  • Absolute European Champion - 2007, 2009
  • Champion of the International Team - 2003, 2007
  • Champion's Challenge BRAZIL X USA - 2003
  • ADCC Silver Medalist - 2007
  • World Silver Medalist - 2008
  • 3rd placed on the World Championship - 2003
  • 3rd placed on the World Championship - 2001

Braulio Estima runs the show at Birmingham, England's Gracie Barra Jiu Jitsu academy as the head instructor.  There was no specific mention of what weight class Estima will be competing in, but the middleweight division would be my guess.

Shine Fights has had a heavy trigger-finger in the last year, as the promotion has fired off press releases announcing premiere fighter acquisitions quite steadily, which include Murilo "Ninja" Rua, former boxer Ricardo Mayorga, former Pride fighters Luiz "Buscape" Firmino, Luiz Azeredo, and Daniel Acacio, Renovacao Fight Team demolition man Luciano Azevedo, heavyweight grappler Jeff Monson, and the colorful Nick "The Goat" Thompson, to name a few.

Stay tuned for more info on Estima's exciting foray in the MMA, and visit the Shine Fights website here.
