Wisconsin Combat Sports reports that Sean "The Muscle Shark" Sherk will return to action at UFC 108 on January 2nd in Las Vegas against Rafaello "Tractor" Oliveira.
The lightweight contest will mark Sherk's 39th career fight on his 33-4-1 record, with his last appearance being a decision loss to Frankie Edgar at UFC 98 in what served as mostly a stand-up fight. Sherk was scheduled to face ATT's Gleison Tibau at UFC 104, but withdrew from the match with an injury to his shoulder.
The "Tractor" is a recent acquisition of the UFC from the Affliction fallout; Oliveira was part of one of the later compiled bouts on the "Affliction: Trilogy" card, set to face Japanese lightweight virtuoso Takanori Gomi before the event died a painfully public death and became no more.
Oliveira is 9-2 overall, with Nick Lentz handing him his second loss in his UFC debut at 103, doubling his totals in the "L" category after a TKO handling by the talented Lyle Beerbohm in ShoXC back in October of '08.
