Word is circulating that a light-heavyweight encounter may occur between Krzysztof Soszynski and Stephan Bonnar for UFC 110 in Sydney, Australia.
There has been no official announcement for UFC 110, but all reports indicate it will take place February 21st at Sydney's Acer Arena. Other rumored match-ups are Wanderlei Silva vs. Yoshihiro Akiyama and Ben Rothwell vs. Mirko CroCop.
Krzysztof "The Polish Experiment" Soszynski snapped his six-fight win streak by losing to Brandon Vera at UFC 102 in a fight he accepted on short notice, tallying a 3-1 record inside the octagon. The durable Team Quest fighter has a 19-8-1 record overall which includes a stint at heavyweight in the IFL, and he's gained ground on his submission game by recently rattling of three consecutive wins by way of kimura.
We last saw Stephan Bonnar on the losing end of two decisions against Mark Coleman and Jon Jones, and Bonnar has a flat even record inside the octagon at 5-5. The veteran of The Ultimate Fighter 1 and one-half of the slobberknocker that spawned the TUF boom has faced a respectable lot of fierce competition over the years, with Forrest Griffin (twice) and Rashad Evans accounting for his only other losses besides the aforementioned Coleman and Jones, but Bonnar has taken the slow and steady approach by fighting usually only twice per year.
A loss to Soszynski would mark three in a row for Bonnar, so a win is absolutely necessary for Bonnar to remain afloat in the UFC.
