Roger Huerta is making a career change. He just turned down a new five fight deal from the UFC because he wants to get into acting. After he fights the one fight remaining on his contract, he'll call it quits for a time while he embarks on his acting career. In an article from Loretta Hunt at Sherdog, Huerta said this:
Which means that after Roger wins a few Academy awards, he'll be ready to get back into the Octagon. Good luck, Roger! And who knows, in a few months, maybe we'll be seeing posters like these: Props to Juggo and Randell of the Sherdog Forums for the 'Shops. |

Shogun is training hard for Mark Coleman at UFC 93. This video was shot in December.
Boy, these UFC fighters just can't stay on the right side of the law! Mike "Quick" Swick lived up to his nickname when he got busted for traffic violations in Thailand.
From his blog:
After 2 days in Phuket, I finally got busted! It was bound to happen eventually. I am not even 100% sure what I did wrong. Thats bad I guess. I think I ran a red light and made an illegal turn. Either way, I had to drive my motorcycle straight to the Chalong Police station to pay my fine. After spending the rest of the night reading "Motorcycle Driving In Thailand As A Foreigner For Dummies" over a seafood dinner, I am ready to obey the laws of the Thai roadway tomorrow!Mike, you think you ran a red light? Here's some advice: Red is red, even in Thailand. So when you see green, you go. When you see red, you stop. Got it? Good.
On today's Affliction Conference call, they had Josh Barnett, Matt Lindland and Tom Atencio answering questions. Here's some of the points discussed.
In Barnett's opening statement he said he was looking forward to be able to punch someone in the face again.
When questioned about a possible Fedor fight, Josh stated that he and Fedor are "friends" and they have dinner occasionally, send birthday cards, etc. But he also said he would welcome the opportunity to fight Fedor because fighting is a business.
When questioned about Gilbert Yvel's dirty tactics in the ring, Josh said that if Gilbert hits him low by accident, he'll let it slide. But if Yvel gouges his eyes, Josh said that he would lose his cool and go off on Yvel.
He also said that he doesn't fight to be famous, he fights to "crush skulls" and doesn't care about any titles right now. All he's focused on is Gilbert Yvel. He said he knows Yvel is a former kickboxer but he's been studying leg locks and Josh said he hopes Yvel attacks the legs.
Matt Lindland was questioned about his first fight with Affliction, and the questioner said something about Matt not looking so great in that fight. Matt responded that he beat the guy for three rounds and won an decision. He said that Vitor will come right after him and wants to win so this fight should be very exciting. At that point, Tom Atencio said that Matt was actually sick for the first fight, but was too proud to say anything about it.
Questioned about his political career, Matt said that he he felt he did good in his losing effort, but that he's not thinking about politics right now because he's totally focused on the Vitor fight.
Tom Atencio said that tickets sales were going very well, but declined to put a number on them.
When questioned about the possibility of Yvel not being cleared to fight, Tom said that he has a back up opponent in mind, but he said he didn't want to mention any names because it looks like Yvel will be cleared.
All in all it was an interesting preview of the big card set for January 23rd. TheGARV.com will be covering the fights live from ringside and I'll have some great pics after the event.
Very funny video from a Brazilian TV show. Wand spanks that ass!
