GOMI AT AKA NapDynamite Style copy

The Fireball Kid apparently dropped in to the American Kickboxing Academy to hang out and train with Jon Fitch, Josh Thomson, and Cain Velasquez today.  Sherdog reports that Gomi is in the neighborhood to negotiate with both Strikeforce and the UFC.  Many a diehard MMA fan has speculated how the legendary Japanese lefty would fare against the fierce depth of the UFC's lightweight class, perhaps spanning from years ago when he was the undisputed #1 lightweight in the world to present times where his surprising losses to Golyaev and Kitaoka have bumped him out of the top 10. As a realistic Gomi fan, I believe he will have his hands full with gritty takedown artists like Edgar and Maynard, but historically Gomi has actually excelled versus strong wrestlers, just struggled with submission artists.  A rematch with Penn would be a big hit, as long as Gomi were to demonstrate his worth with a few wins.  There are also many compelling match-ups against pedigreed grapplers like Florian, Stevenson, and Sanchez. Most importantly, win or lose, Gomi is an exciting fighter with some of the heaviest hands to grace the sport, especially for his weight class.  Fight of the Night opportunities await with sluggers like Melvin Guillard, Spencer Fisher--and dare I throw out the idea that a brawl with Nate Diaz may be as exciting as Gomi's slobberknocker with big brother Nick?
