Extreme Fight Challenge to hold its third event — EFC III: Unleashed Fury — on January 21 in Paterson, NJ.

EFC is back with a vengeance!!! If you were at the first two Extreme Fight Challenge shows, you were treated to non-stop MMA action, from bell to bell. And EFC’s third event, Unleashed Fury, promises the same and more. Watch a full card of local fighters, trained at the area’s top schools, battle it out inside the cage on Jan. 21 at St. Gerard’s Parish.

With two sold-out shows in 2011, EFC quickly established itself as the ultimate proving ground for young fighters whose drive to become the best meant they need to face the best. And now, with its third event, EFC promoter Hani Darwish promises to deliver once again a show with “100 percent action-packed fights,” he said.

“We put on wars in the cage, for sure,” Darwish said. “You’re definitely going to get what you pay for.” Just like in his first two events, Darwish plans to match up fighters evenly, so that every fight is a battle. “Are they really rising stars? Are they really talents from the area? Let’s see,” he said.

After opening an MMA school in 2009, it was a natural progression for Darwish to then begin promoting MMA events, so that he could test his fighters’ skills inside the cage. It’s his desire to put on a top-notch show, along with his ability to nurture promising young fighters, that gets him excited about EFC. “My passion lies in the fact that I can see something flourish from nothing,” he said.

The event will be held at St. Gerard’s Parish, a venue where every seat feels like you’re right on top of the action. “The local area here, everybody is into the sport,” Darwish said, recalling that at the first two EFC events, “if you were in the crowd, the building was shaking, the people were going nuts.”

About the promoter: Darwish has been training in martial arts nearly his entire life, beginning with his father, and continuing under the guidance of champions in collegiate wrestling, Olympic Greco-Roman wrestling and boxing. Darwish has more than 100 grappling wins to his credit. About a decade ago, he and brother Wally launched Knockout Promotions and began putting on boxing events.
