Reports have surfaced that Dana White is still pursuing a UFC fight for Fedor Emelianenko through M-1 Global.
"It's not that I don't want to talk to M-1. I want to get this [expletive] done. I want him, and I want Fedor. I want to do it. And I never say never. They can call me right now, and we can start talking and figure this thing out."
Despite many futile attempts in the past and no apparent change in the ever-present dealbreaker of M-1 Global's insistence that the UFC co-promote, I must issue a very heartfelt "hell yes" to Mr. White for his ongoing efforts and acknowledgement of Fedor's status with hardcore MMA fans.
The only fresh shred of news on this topic is that Dana also voiced a desire to bring on Fedor's M-1 teammate, Strikeforce light-heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi.
"I'd love to get Mousasi in here. He should be. He deserves to be."
"I like [Mousasi] a lot. I'd love to get him in here and try him out with some of the other guys."
Dana provided no further details, but confirmed that negotations were not only still alive, but ongoing. Regardless of how unlikely the task is, Dana White deserves credit for continuing to make strides towards a win/win deal for Fedor, M-1 Global, and the UFC. Any tactic that may result in "The Last Emperor" standing devoid of emotion in the octagon across from any top UFC heavyweight is worth a shot.
