It's no secret that Dana White and Chuck "The Ice Man" Liddell are good friends. So it's no surprise that it hurt Dana to watch when Rashad Evans 86'd Chuck at UFC 88 with a spectacular right hand KO.
Now Chuck gets one more chance. He's scheduled to fight Mauricio "Shogun" Rua at UFC 97 in Montreal on April 18th.
For the Ice Man it's a do or die fight. Dana White makes it clear that not only does Chuck need to win, he needs to look incredible doing it.
Dana told Neil Davidson of the Canadian Press:
"I've made it very clear to Chuck. Very clear," White told The Canadian Press. "It's not about money, it's not about this, that. Chuck is one of my good friends. Chuck (has) cemented his legacy in the UFC and in the fight game. I'm not even saying if he wins, unless he looks incredibly impressive (in Montreal) - I mean, he's going to have to go out there and dazzle me, for me to want Chuck to still fight."
"I love him, and I don't want to see what I saw in his last fight ever again," he added.
Will the Ice Man be able to dazzle Shogun and regain the form that has made him a legend in the sport of mixed martial arts? The answer is less than a month a way.
