Lance Pugmire of the LA Times has published a report that Dana White has confirmed to be self-engaged in the process of structuring an interim heavyweight championship to address Brock Lesnar's unfortunate absence to his intestinal infection and subsequent surgery. Shance Carwin stopped in to the Underground Forum to issue a classy and sportsmanlike post, expressing concern for Lesnar and the bigger picture of his questionable condition.  He was asked about the status of an interim bout, and Carwin shared that he was approached on the subject:
"We are in talks. I have a knee I am rehabbing and a baby due on the 11th of February. I am down to do whatever is best for the division. Not sure how important the belt is in that scenario. Lots of great fighters at the top and lots of talented young guns on the way up right now."
With Big Shane juggling both the recovery from an MCL strain and a new addition to the family expected in February (congratulations Shane!), the idea of pitting Junior Dos Santos versus Cain Velasquez for the interim match seems even more logical now.  Brock and Shane could both concentrate on making a complete recovery to be 100% with the assurity that they will be included in a title bout as soon as they are able, and the division doesn't have to be put on hold while its key fighters deal with issues out of their control.
