The Garv.com has confirmed that Sengoku featherweight standout Chan Sung Jung, better known by the epithet "The Korean Zombie", is on the verge of signing a contract with the WEC and may soon make his stateside debut in the promotion's featherweight class. Although not yet official, negotiations have taken place and the deal is expected to be finalized shortly.
This is particularly exciting as Jung has an exorbitant amount of talent and potential that the world is yet to realize. More information and a highlight video of Jung are posted after the jump.
At 10-1, the sole scare on Jung's record is the highly debatable decision loss to eventual tournament winner Masanori Kanehara in the second sequence of Sengoku's stellar 2009 Featherweight Gran Prix. He fights out of the talented Korean Top Team factory alongside notable names like Jong Man Kim, who has fought in K-1, Sengoku, DEEP, and Shooto; judoka Bu Kyung Jung, the man who jumped in the ring with Shinya Aoki, Mitsuhiro Ishida, Daisuke Nakamura, and Katsunori Kikuno in his first four professional fights; and Min Soo Kim, the heavyweight who is best known for serving as Brock Lesnar's first MMA opponent in 2007's K-1 Hero's event in Los Angeles.
In his last MMA outing, Jung tapped Matt Jaggers with a triangle at Sengoku Ninth Battle, and he also recently caused a massive upheaval when he fought celebrated Thai champion Pajonsuk in a striking match, where Jung digested quite a few blows but ended up knocking Pajonsuk silly with a spinning backfist. Unfortunately, the spinning backfist is not allowed under the "It's Showtime" rules, and Jung was disqualified.
