The M-1 Selection: Americas tournament finals heavyweight contest features two fighters with contrasting styles both in an out of the ring.   Team Bombsquad’s Pat Bennett and American Top Team’s Kenny Garner are set to enter the M-1 ring on September 18^th and take the next big step on their way to the top.

At 6’ 3” tall and 245lbs, Team Bombsquad’s Pat Bennett is a mountain of a man.  With a strong wrestling pedigree, Bennett brings a 3-1 professional record into the finals.  Showing off excellent power Bennett made quick work in his quarterfinal matchup against Ryan Smiley, using only :37 seconds of the opening round to earn a KO victory.   Bennett’s semi final fight with talented heavyweight Mehdi Hassan was nothing short of a war in the ring.  The two fighters went toe to toe for 15 minutes with Bennett showing a will to win that carried him to a unanimous decision victory, and earning his place in the finals.

Anthony "The Big Calzone" Leone (8-1) is making his Bellator debut tonight, against Georgi Karakhanyan (13-2-1).  This is a tough fight for Leone, but he's one of those fighters who thrive on big challenges.

Leone got the call to fight in Bellator after Alvin Robinson got injured.  The Big Calzone is a Team Bombsquad fighter, so you know his training has been top notch and that he'll be ready tonight despite the short notice.

Keep on eye on this, kid.  I think he's going to open a lot of eyes tonight, while possibly closing his opponent's.  After the jump check out a HL video of Leone in action against Tateki Matsuda from last March.

Nice slugfest between Bellator champ Joe Soto and challenger Joe Warren.  Here's the full fight in HD.

Team BombSquad, which has fighters in all the major organizations, is also very well represented at the M-1 Global Selection Americas tournament.  Three BombSquad fighters, Pat Bennett, Mike Guerin and Tom "Da Tank" Gallicchio, will be fighting in the finals on September 18th at Ballys in Atlantic City.

Heavyweight Pat Bennet will be facing Kenny Garner for the HW title.  Bennett knocked out Ryan Smiley in just 37 seconds in his quarterfinals match, then beat Mehdi Hassan by unanimous decision in the semis.  Garner is a tough customer and this fight could be a slugfest.

Mike Geurin, who fights at middleweight, beat Todd Chattelle and a very tough Shane Primm to advance to the finals, where he'll be taking on  Tyson Jeffries.  Jeffries advanced after a razor thin decision against Plinio Cruz, who is a very good fighter himself, so this too will be a war.

Crowd favorite Tom "Da Tank" Gallicchio has also earned his way into the finals.  It's been a rough road for Da Tank, who a split decision against Reggie Pena, then fought a very tough Aaron Meisner.  Meisner gave Tom all he could handle until the third round, when Da Tank went into overdrive and locked on a choke to secure a submission victory. Tom will now be facing Len "The Liger" Bentley at Ballys, and this is another great match up.
