You have seen the shows live on MTV2 and now you will have your chance to witness the action first hand when Bellator invades Atlantic City, NJ on Saturday night, May 14thBellator 44 comes to Caesar’s Hotel and Casino and will showcase some amazing talent with an action packed card.  It appears Bellator is putting together a main card for the television broadcast and a local feature card that fight fans will certainly enjoy.

Headlining this stellar card will be a non-title fight between Falaniko Vitale (29-9) and Middleweight Champion, Hector Lombard (28-2-1).  This fight features a submission specialist against a striker, so we will have to wait and see which warrior can execute their gameplan first.  Can Vitale get the fight to the ground to utilize his submission skills or will Lombard control the pace and set Vitale up for another TKO victory to add to his record.

Vitale, the Honolulu native, mixes things up quite well.  Vitale loves his submissions, but can easily stay in the pocket and throw punches with the best of them.  Sixteen of Vitale’s victories are by way of submission, but nine come by way of TKO/KO, including his last fight which was a knock out two minutes into the very first round.  A UFC vet, Vitale is a very dangerous fighter and should not be taken lightly.  Vitale can finish this fight from any point and is an extremely well rounded fighter.  Hector Lombard’s workj will be cut out for his this night.

Bellator Middleweight Champion, Hector Lombard is also a very dangerous fighter.  Lombard, the American Top Team standout has been a dominant force in the middleweight division for some time now.  Also a member of the 2000 Olympic Judo team, Lombard has not lost a fight since 2006.  In fact, the only blemish in Lombard’s last twenty-two fights is a draw against Kyle Noke back in 2007.  Of those twenty-two fights, only five went to a decision.  This guy loves to finish fights and does a very good job of it.

Vitale and Lombard should put on quite a show for the fans on May 14th.  Both are well rounded and both are very dangerous and can end the fight on a moment’s notice.  This contest should be explosive and competitive at the same time so make sure you tune in and check it out.  This one, you will not want to miss!  A great superfight main event to cap off a great night of MMA action.

The local end of this card will feature Ultimate Fighter contestant, Jeff Lentz (6-2) taking on Anthony Leone (8-3).  I expect some fireworks in this one as both fighters are coming off multiple losses in a row and need to get back into the “win” column to stay relevant.  Lentz has lost his last two and Leone has lost his last three.  Both fighters have to make sure they do not let desperation get the better of them and force them to make an unnecessary mistake.  One mistake in this fight can cost either one a much needed victory.

Lentz, the Pellegrino standout, loves to stand and bang and I am sure he will be looking to keep this fight on the feet for a while to keep things in his favor and try to get the knockout victory.  However, if the fight spills to the ground, Jeff is more than capable of holding his own there as well.  Lentz can ground and pound with the best of them and would love to show the fans what he is capable of doing.  Rest assured though, Lentz wants to finish this fight and make an impact in a big way.  Expect some bombs to be dropped in this contest.  Leone is no easy task so Lentz had better be well prepared for this war.

Leone, the Team Bombsquad fighter and WEC vet has stumbled as of late.  After winning his first eight fights, Leone has lost three straight in WEC, Bellator, and Strikeforce.  Leone needs a win in the worst way and beating a name like Jeff Lentz would help rebuild his confidence and it looks good on the resume.  However, beating Lentz will not be an easy task.  Leone has some great ground skills and loves to utilize chokes and armbars.  Leone will need to out grapple Lentz and wait for a costly mistake and capitalize on it.  This should be an exciting fight to watch.

This card is stacked from top to bottom and will be a fun one to watch.  Along with these two top notch bouts, you will also see the likes of lightweight, Patricky “Pitbull” who has electrified the MMA world as of late with some amazing MMA skills.  Also on this card is welterweight, Lyman Good who is coming off a very close split decision loss and wants to get back in the win column as soon as possible.  There are some outstanding match-ups on this card so make sure you head over to Caesar’s in Atlantic City and show your support for these great fighters.

Tickets can be purchased here…get them while they last!
