East Coast MMA continues to heat up this summer and this time it will be Philadelphia that will be rocking this Friday night. Locked in the Cage, one of the premier MMA organizations in the state of Pennsylvania, returns for their eighth installment of fights coming to you live, from the Asylum Arena. This show was put together by LITC's matchmaker, Fran Evans.  LITC's past shows have been action packed so I am excited to see what Evans and company have in store for the fight fans on Friday night.

Headlining the card will be a contest between Daniel Tavares (0-2) and Aaron Carter (0-1). These relative newcomers never take an easy fight and are always competitive. Both are hungry for that first “W” and on Friday evening, one of them will hopefully get it. We will find out who wants it more. Tavares’ first fight was a tough one as he took on Jacob Kirwan and took Kirwan, the far more experienced fighter, into the third before getting caught in a submission. Tavares will come to fight, rest assured.

After a very successful 7-3 amateur career, Aaron Carter ventured into the deep end of the pool and found himself on the receiving end of brutal KO loss just one minute into the first round. No doubt, Carter wants to have a better showing this time around so expect some fireworks from this twenty year old fighter. This bout should be very fast paced with a lot of action. Both fighters are coming off a KO loss in their previous fight so desperation may kick in and this fight could come down to whoever makes that first fatal mistake.

The co-main event for the evening will see LITC veteran, Matt Nice (1-1) taking on Nathan Vantassel (0-0). Both these competitors had very successful amateur careers as well. Nice went 4-1 while Vantassel went 2-0 and now both are taking that leap into the professional ranks. Nice has a bit of a head start having had two pro fights and will surely look to capitalize on his experience and his well versed ground game. We will see what Vantassel can bring to the table as he has yet to taste defeat. Both fighters have promising futures ahead of them so enjoy a great show from these warriors.

This stacked card will also have an amateur title fight as the vacant WMMAC Featherweight Championship will be decided. Vying for the title will be "Pistol" Patrick Macke (6-3) and Javier Guzman (1-1). Macke is 21 years and Guzman, just 18. However, do not let their ages fool you. These guys are as tough as they come. Macke brings a wealth of experience compared to Guzman and I expect that will come into play and Macke knows his way around the cage. Guzman is a scrapper and will surely make this fight entertaining. You will not want to miss this explosive championship bout.

Along with Fran Evans, LITC has brought veteran bloggerand analyst, Paul Miles on board has matchmaker and director of operations.  Miles brings an astronomical amount of MMA knowledge to the table as he his practically a walking encyclopedia of knowledge in the field of combat sports. Very few can match wits with this man so he is a brilliant addition to the LITC staff.  Expect some big things from Locked in the Cage in the coming months and make sure you head over to the Asylum Arena Friday night. Bell time is 8pm and you can click here for ticket info.
