(Carl Macarenhas, Brian Collins, CJ Mascarenhas and a bevy of beauties)
Asylum Fight League 39 took place on Saturday and it was, as usual, an amazing show. The Asylum lightheavyweight crown was up for grabs, and Rami Awad and Brian Collins both fought like champions. After three grueling rounds, Collins earned a unanimous decision victory and the Asylum Fight League championship belt. It was a great fight, and a hard fought, well deserved victory for Collins. I already look forward to Brian defending the strap.
The rest of the card was exceptional as well. Stealing the show were the two female fighters, who set a blistering pace in their three round war. Ashley Miller and Allycia Mitchell both gave everything they had, and it was the hardest fight to score. Miller won a razor thin split decision, but both women have reason to be very proud of their performances.
As usual the crowd was totally into all the fights, and they were treated to some great action throughout the night. The Golden Nugget Casino Hotel is a great venue, and Carl Mascarenhas and his son CJ run a top notch promotion. The Asylum is a family affair, and the fighters and fans certainly felt the family vibe throughout the evening. I had a blast ring announcing the event, and look forward to the next show.
