Alexey Oleinik is training hard for his fight against Mike Hayes in the Bellator heavyweight tournament. Oleinik is a talented mixed martial artist from Russia and he trains at K-Dojo in Fairfield, New Jersey, with K-Dojo's founder, Mourat Keshtov aka Master K. Master K has studied Mike Hayes and he and Oleinik have designed a game plan that incorporates what they've learned. Keshtov is an excellent instructor and one of his students, Bridgette Narcise, was 2009's best female no-gi grappler.
Another Russian MMA fighter out of the K-Dojo camp is Mikhail Malyutin, who takes on Edson Barboza at Ring of Combat 31 on September 24. Edson is a beast, but Mikhail is very experienced and this should be a great fight.
K-Dojo is leading the "Russian Invasion" of MMA by bringing us some great athletes. Oleinik is managed by Sam Kardan and Ryan Ciotoli of Team Bombsquad, who have gotten him into Bellator's tournament and are looking for big things from their fighter. Kardan has contacts in Russia and is looking to bring over more fighters. I think Russian fighters have a lot to offer and I look forward to seeing more of them in action here in the States. Yes, ring announcing them is challenging, but it's also fun, as I told Oksana Kehoe in our interview.
Look for more info on Oleinik and Malyutin in the near future right here.
