In this article by
sports.ru, and with assistance from my loyal postal connections buried deep within the Underground Forum and
google translator, it appears as if Aleksander Emelianenko is pointing the finger at M-1 Global president and the manager of Fedor Emelianenko, Vadim Finkelstein, as the source of the stalemate in negotiations between Fedor and the UFC.
"On the UFC, you can negotiate. I know that they are sufficiently flexible contracts. And all this talk about the bonded conditions at the time of signing the contract with the UFC come only from Finkelstein, who wants, through a contract with the UFC/Fedor, promote your own business."
For all of the media hoopla and fan frenzy that has followed in the wake of Fedor's negotiations with the UFC, and especially for those blaming the UFC for their stringent and allegedly acrimonious contract stipulations, this news is rather shocking.
It shouldn't come as a surprise that Vadim Finkelstein demands co-promotional options from the UFC to boost the M-1 Global name and its stable of fighters, as both he and Fedor share a stake in the company's success and profits. The true lash of the whip lies in Alek's opinion that the UFC offers "sufficiently flexible" contracts, which would normally be greeted with scornful and somewhat evil laughter from many devout Fedor followers... this writer being one of them.
